It was on her way back from Starbucks with the girls, when Scarlett had received yet another text from Marcus. They had been texting each other back and forth throughout the day and it seemed that the more texts that Scarlett would receive from him, the more he would make her angry and upset. She glanced over at her phone that was sat on the passenger’s seat of the car, she was hesitate of whether or not to look at the text. She knew that it would only be him, making her feel bad about something else that she had done wrong in the past, just to make himself feel better. It was times like this Scarlett wondered why she still loved him. He made her feel like crap most of the time, the names that he called her and he always complaining about how much he hated her, just made her stomach turn just by thinking about it. Scarlett would admit that she had made some mistakes in the past and she had a lot of regrets, which included having an abortion, but she couldn't take it back, if she had a chance to she would have.
Scarlett leaned over to reach for her phone. After the last text Scar had sent him she knew he probably would be pissed, especially since Marcus had questioned her deeply about Scarlett telling a few of her friends about the fight that they had over AIM a while back. Scarlett shook her head, he was so immature at times and he got worked up over the little things. Big deal, she told her closest friends Amber and Samantha, about what had happened. She needed someone to talk to at the time, but she had no idea that one of them would confront Marcus over it. But oh well, Scarlett thought to herself, Marcus should have thought twice about what he was saying to her and then maybe he wouldn't have been so hated by her friends right now. Opening the text, Scarlett sighed expecting there to be a mean reply, but instead Marcus had invited her over. At this point, she didn't know what to think, especially since it was around town that Marcus was now dating Nadia Washington. At first, Scarlett was going to refuse the invite, but instead she changed her mind at the last minute, I mean what was the worst that could happen? The relationship between the two of them was already as fucked up as it could be and at this point Scarlett figured they couldn't be any worse than they already were and above all that, she really wanted to see him. Everything about him, still, when she was in his present made her feel so in love, like it was their first time again.
Being with Marcus, alone, did feel weird for Scarlett at first. He had invited her around and she had no idea why, she didn't want to question his relationship status with Nadia just to avoid a huge argument. Instead, Scar just kept quiet, which was strange for her as Scarlett would usually be the loudest one in the room. However, she didn't want to ruin this moment that they had together. Yeah, it may had been awkward, but sitting next to him, feeling him that close, just reminded her of how perfect they were and it just hurt her inside to know that she made a very good thing come to an end. If it wasn't for her leaving, they would still be together, there were times that she would cry herself to sleep because that was how much he meant to her and she knew that she could never get him back. In Scarlett's mind she ruined it all. Scarlett remained quiet though, looking over at him every so often. It wasn't long before she felt herself kissing him, letting her hands run up his back. She didn't want to think at this time, she knew he had a girlfriend, but this felt right between them and she couldn't pull herself away. She didn't want to pull away.
Scarlett opened her eyes slowly, at first she couldn't figure out where she was until she took a better look around. Sitting up in bed, she glanced to the side of her and Marcus was nowhere to be seen. She didn't know whether to be happy, angry or shocked about them having sex last night. From what she knew he had a girlfriend and him not being next to her right now was a obvious sign that he had regretted their time together. Scarlett sighed loudly. Marcus probably was with Nadia right now, telling Nadia how much he loved her after knowing he just slept with her. Apart of Scarlett felt sick, was all of this pain of feeling alone, worth the one night hook up she got with him. She wanted all of him and not like this, just sex. Scarlett left the breakfast that he made for her and just locked up the place after her. Breakfast? Breakfast? was that the best he could do she thought to herself. It wasn't long before they were fighting through texts again, but this time Scarlett had a bit more anger and that’s when she found out that Marcus and Nadia wasn't even dating anymore, which just Scarlett even more angry since now she felt like the rebound girl. Since Nadia had broke up with him, Scarlett just thought if Marcus could just come running whenever he wanted her, he was completely wrong because she wasn't going to be easy.
It was cheerleading practice and everyone kept asking if she was okay, she just shrugged it off but deep down it was Marcus that was getting to her again. Not even being able to concentrate properly, she left early and just told the girls she wasn't feeling well. Scarlett went straight the girls changing rooms and checked her phone, where she saw another text message from Marcus. Opening it up, she read it slowly. Feeling her legs feel a little weak, she sat down on the bench, she couldn't believe what she was reading. She tried to stay strong, and so she just gathered her stuff and headed straight home, not even sending him a reply. Not being able to hold herself together when she got home, she headed straight to her bedroom and broke down in tears. He hated her. Scarlett loved him and at this very moment, it hit her that she had lost him. He didn't want her and he never would. Everything he wrote in the text message was right. She was such a selfish person and the only thing she could say was sorry. She didn't know what else to do.
Tears continued to run down her face, she couldn't stop herself from crying, she was hurt. Seeing her phone light up, she knew it might have been another text message from him but she ignored it and laid down on to her bed instead as she held onto her pillow tightly. She didn't want to talk with him anymore, because she knew that it would only make her feel worse than she already did. It was the loud banging on the door that caused Scarlett to jump a little. She wasn't expecting anyone round tonight, but she figured it was probably Sam or Amber, well she hoped it was one of them. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she dragged herself off her bed and strolled over to the door. Opening it slowly, she was shocked to see who was standing there. She wanted to shut the door in his face, but couldn't get herself to do it. "what are you doing here?" she asked trying not to give him any sort of eye contact as she wiped her face with her sweater, looking away in the process. "i thought you didn't want anything to do with me..." she tried to stay strong, the strong girl that she was brought up to be, but even she would hear it in her voice that she was about to start to crying again. "look...i think you should go" she spoke softly as the tear fell down her cheek slowly.
